Volunteer Telephone Crisis Support Requirements

To become a Volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident 

Hold or willing to obtain a current Fit2Work Police Check (paid for by Lifeline) and Working with Children Check (free for Volunteers)

Volunteers are also asked to make a minimum time commitment to Lifeline of 2 years, and complete all three stages of Training including: 

  • Stage 1 - 10 week training course 
  • Stage 2 - 10 - 15 hours of placement shifts 
  • Stage 3 - 92 hrs crisis support (within 12 months inc one 4hr shift per fortnight)
