In the submission of your application you are agreeing to abide by these terms and conditions:
Volunteers are viewed as valuable members of the Comox Military Family Resource Centre, its staff and clients. The intent of this agreement assure you of our sincere appreciation of your services and our commitment to do the very best we can to make your volunteer experience a productive and rewarding one.
Volunteers shall be extended:
- The right to be given meaningful assignments that meet the volunteer’s individual goals and expectations;
- The right to be treated as equal co-workers in term of respect and integrity;
- The right to receive encouraging supervision;
- The right to full involvement and participation;
- The right to recognition for work done;
The right to develop personally and professionally.
All volunteers shall:
- Fulfill their duties and responsibilities with integrity;
- Serve clients / participants in a friendly, conscientious and helpful manner;
- Protect the privacy of clients / participants, staff, and volunteers;
- Treat clients / participants with respect and dignity;
- Treat the Comox MFRC and its services and programs with dignity and respect, and
Behave in a manner which brings credit to the organization and the people associated with it.
All business conducted in the Comox Military Family Resource Centre (Comox MFRC) is strictly CONFIDENTIAL. The MFRC is committed to respecting the confidentiality of the military community that it serves. All matters discussed in the MFRC will remain confidential. Business will not be discussed with any other person (i.e.- husband, wife, friend) without prior approval of the individual involved. Any matter regarding a question of confidentiality must be discussed with MFRC Executive Director. In matters of child abuse and / or threat to life, which are criminal matters, appropriate agencies will be contacted (i.e. Child Protection Branch, Police). In such instances your supervisor and /or the Executive Director must be informed immediately. Absolute discretion is to be exercised if it should become necessary to discuss MFRC business with anyone. Any breach of confidentiality will be grounds for immediate dismissal.
Conflict of Interest:
For the duration of your volunteer time with the Centre, volunteers will not be involved in any activities/organizations interfering with or undermining the mandate of the MFRC. Furthermore volunteers shall not use privileged information obtained through their volunteer position at the MFRC to benefit themselves or any members of their family. Volunteers will discuss with the Volunteer Manager, at the earliest opportunity, any matter concerning a potential, actual, of perceived conflict of interest.
Criminal record check:
In order to provide protection for clients, volunteers working with the Comox MFRC are required to submit to a criminal records check for vulnerable sector. Volunteer applicants who do not agree to a criminal records check will be refused assignment.
Volunteer positions will be reviewed to ensure the needs of both parties are being met.
The Comox MFRC accepts the service of volunteers with the understanding that such service is at the sole discretion of the Comox MFRC. Both parties agree that the Centre or the volunteer may at anytime terminate the volunteer’s involvement with the Comox MFRC. Notice of such a decision should be communicated as soon as possible to the Volunteer Manager and volunteer’s supervisor.
