Volunteer Partnership Agreement

Volunteer Partnership Agreement

This agreement is intended to establish the responsibilities and expectations of the Volunteer and Great Plains SPCA. Just as we feel strongly about our commitment to the animals, we take our responsibility to volunteers seriously and expect that volunteers do the same. At GPSPCA, we nurture a culture of accountability, grace and respect for your fellow volunteers, GPSPCA staff and our guests. This partnership agreement is intended to promulgate that culture. As part of this agreement, the Volunteer agrees to:

  • Treat all animals in our care with the utmost care and respect, with their well-being top of mind.
  • Perform only the Volunteer activities for which you’ve been trained and approved and according to GPSPCA policies and position descriptions.
  • Perform Volunteer duties to the best of your ability and with a positive attitude.
  • Accept the guidance of employees of GPSPCA in performing Volunteer duties; adhere to their decisions and directives.
  • Create positive working relationships with employees and other Volunteers and provide excellent customer service to program participants, visitors, and clients.
  • Be punctual and reliable in attendance for scheduled volunteer activities; notify GPSPCA if you are unable to show for your scheduled volunteer duties.
  • Respect the privacy of persons and animals served by the organization and treat sensitive and private information confidentially.
  • Keep personal opinions and actions separate from those made as a representative of this organization. Represent GPSCPA positively in the community.
  • Not demonstrate behavior that is discriminatory based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, age, genetic information, pregnancy status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or any protected status in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Get pre-approval for any expenses to be reimbursed by GPSPCA.
  • Understand that violation of any of the above may be grounds for dismissal.

In exchange, GPSPCA agrees to:

  • Treat you and your volunteer duties as important to our mission.
  • Be available and willing to discuss issues of concern to the Volunteer, either in an impromptu discussion or by arranging a specific meeting time.
  • Be receptive to any ideas, thoughts, and suggestions from you regarding ways in which we might better your volunteer duties or the care of the animals.
  • Provide adequate information, training, assistance, and materials for you to be able to meet the responsibilities of your volunteer position.
  • Treat you and your efforts on behalf of GPSPCA with fairness, consideration, respect and strive to maintain a smooth working relationship.
