Volunteer Commitment
Volunteer Commitment
Phillip Island Nature Parks (the Nature Parks) values the support of our team of 250 volunteers and welcomes new applications. Volunteers provide support in a number of areas and assist in achieving our purpose to protect nature for wildlife and inspire people to act. Before completing your application, please consider the following to ensure we can meet your needs.
- The Nature Parks volunteer program does not include roles that handle, feed or provide direct care to wildlife. If this is your primary reason for volunteering unfortunately, we will not be able to meet your needs.
- The Nature Parks provides volunteers with training and resources to participate in volunteer roles, including online training, and on site role specific training and inductions. To ensure we maximise these resources we ask volunteers to make a commitment of a shift (usually 3 hours) per week or fortnight for at least 6-12 months. We love it if you can stay with us longer but know that isn’t always possible. If you are looking for a short-term role unfortunately we are not able to assist.
- The Nature Parks require all staff, volunteers and contractors to hold a current Victorian Working With Children Card you must be over 18 and a Victorian resident to apply– these are free for volunteers. You are welcome to start your volunteer application while waiting for your card.
- If you are looking for student or university placements, please talk to the student placement or workplace learning coordinator at your university to see if they have a partnership with us.
If you need support with your application or have questions please email volunteers@penguins.org.au
Once you complete your application you will receive a welcome email, please check your junk folder. The email will have training and induction links. Once that training is complete you will go on our waiting list.
Please note: if you decide we are not the right fit for you, there are many organisations seeking volunteers where you can make a difference. We encourage you to continue looking for the organisation that is right for you.
Thank you
