Policy Statement
- The purpose of this document is to provide overall guidance to all volunteers and staffs who are engaged and involved with Reef Restoration Foundation
- This policy covers Volunteers Rights , Volunteers Code of Conduct and Volunteer's Obligation to the Foundation
Volunteer's Right
Volunteer of Reef Restoration Foundation can expect :
- to work in a healthy and safe environment (refer various Occupational Health and Safety Act[s];
- to be interviewed and employed in accordance with equal opportunity and antidiscrimination legislation;
- to be adequately covered by insurance;
- to be given accurate and truthful information about the organisation;
- to be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses incurred on behalf of the organisation;
- to be given a copy of the organisation’s volunteer policy and any other policy that affects their work;
- not to fill positions previously held by paid workers;
- not to do the work of paid staff during industrial disputes;
- to have a job description and agreed working hours;
- o have access to a grievance procedure;
- to be provided with orientation to the organisation;
- to have their confidential and personal information dealt with in accordance with the principles of the Privacy Act 1988; and
- to be provided with sufficient training for them to do their jobs.
In addition to honouring volunteers’ rights, the Foundaton will provide its volunteers with:
- Opportunities for training for which the Museum will meet costs where possible •
- Opportunities for participation in dive and fundraising events
- A digital copy of the newsletter free of charge
- Recognition of volunteer work through rewards and outings
Volunteers should be provided with :
- Dive Safety Manual ; covering :
- A copy of this policy
- Workplace Health and Safety information including location of first aid kit
- Essential information such as emergency contacts
- Training Procedure Maniual ; covering
- Duties and task requires from volunteer.
Volunteer Obligation
As a volunteer of the organisation there is an expectation that all volunteers will take their position responsibly. Volunteers have the responsibility to:
- Confidentiality
- maintain client, staff , organisational and intellectual property confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act.
- They must not discuss such information with, or mention to anyone else outside the Foundation
- Commitment
- The Foundation expects volunteers to be active for atleast mininum of 6months
- In so, be dependable and reliable, arrive on time, and notify staff with sufficient notice if unavailable so a replacement can be found;
- Representation
- volunteers must represent RRF and/or its positions/campaigns in a positive manner. Volunteers must not present themselves to speak on behalf of RRF unless authorised by CEO
