Welcome to the Denton County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). Before submitting your application, please review and acknowledge the following summary of volunteer policies. The full version of these policies will be provided and reviewed during MRC Orientation.
1. Code of Conduct
I understand that as a Denton County MRC volunteer, I am expected to:

Conduct myself in a professional, ethical, and respectful manner

Treat all individuals with dignity and courtesy

Follow dress code and appearance guidelines

Refrain from offensive language, illegal activity, weapons, drugs, or alcohol while volunteering

Use county equipment, systems, and information only for official purposes

Follow the established chain of command and report concerns appropriately
2. Confidentiality & HIPAA
I understand that I may have access to confidential or protected health information during training or deployment and agree to:

Protect all private, medical, and sensitive information

Not discuss, share, or post confidential information in any form, including on social media

Safeguard passwords, records, and access credentials
Violations of confidentiality may result in removal from the MRC program and possible legal consequences.
3. Release of Confidential Information
I authorize the Denton County MRC to share my contact information with other authorized MRC volunteers and partners solely for official communication, alerts, training, and deployment purposes. My information will not be used or shared for any other purpose.
4. Volunteer Risk Acknowledgment
I understand that volunteering may involve inherent risks, particularly during emergency response activities. I acknowledge that:

Denton County MRC follows established safety standards

I assume personal responsibility for reasonable risks associated with volunteer service

Applicable Volunteer Protection Acts, Good Samaritan Laws, and the Uniform Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioners Act (UEVHPA) apply when serving in an official MRC capacity
5. Media Release & Public Speaking
I understand that:

I may be photographed or recorded during MRC activities and grant permission for the use of my image for official public health purposes

I am not authorized to speak to the media or represent Denton County Public Health without prior approval from the Public Information Officer or MRC Coordinator

By submitting this application, I acknowledge that I have read, understand, and agree to comply with the Denton County Medical Reserve Corps Volunteer Policies and Agreements. I understand that the complete policy document will be provided and reviewed during MRC Orientation, and that failure to follow these policies may result in removal from the MRC program.
