Volunteer Policies and Agreements
As a volunteer for the City of Sacramento Animal Care Services, I agree to:
Serve in an entirely voluntary capacity, without receiving any compensation or employment benefits available to regular City of Sacramento Animal Care Services employees.
Make a 6-month commitment to my volunteer services – 3 months for required community service for school or court.
Adhere to sign – in, scheduling (if necessary), training and safety procedures.
Carry out my volunteer duties in accordance with training protocol and seek assistance from City of Sacramento Animal Care Services staff when necessary.
Conduct myself with dignity, courtesy and consideration for others (two and four legged) and strive to make my volunteer duties professional in quality.
Wear my volunteer name badge and T shirt at all times while in the shelter.
Wear appropriate clothing for the duties I am performing.
ALWAYS exercise compassion and care with the animals, never treating an animal in a way that could be constructed as abusive or disrespectful.
NOT discuss animals housed in the stray kennels, quarantine kennels with any outside party.
Accept the guidance and decisions of the professional staff at City of Sacramento Animal Care Services regarding animals care decisions and volunteer procedures. Any problems or disagreements should be discussed with the Volunteer Coordinator.
RELEASE AGREEMENT
I understand the handling of animals and other volunteer activities involves a risk of injury. On behalf of myself, my heirs, personal representatives and executors, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the City of Sacramento Animal Care Services, its employees and agents from any claims, causes of action and demands of any nature arising out of, or in connection with my volunteer activities on behalf of the City of Sacramento Animal Care Services.
I understand in the event of an accident while performing my duties as a volunteer, I will be covered by the City of Sacramento’s Workers’ Compensation Insurance for injuries incurred at the shelter. Foster care activities are NOT covered under Worker's Comp and are undertaken at the volunteer's own risk.
I understand that my volunteer service at the Front Street Animal Shelter is entirely at-will and that I or the Front Street Animal Shelter can terminate my volunteer service at any time and for any reason.
I understand that public relations are an important part volunteering and I hereby authorize City of Sacramento Animal Care Services to use any photographs of me in its possession for public relations purposes unless otherwise noted.
I understand that if I do not wish to have my photo taken or published for any reason I need to let the photographer know.
