Master Composter Volunteer Program Application and Policy Requirement

Green Action Centre’s Master Composter Volunteer Program is a program that will give you the confidence to become an effective Green Action Centre compost ambassador, to educate others on the value of composting.

The first step to becoming a certified Master Composter is taking our hands-on 18-hour train-the-trainer composting course. Master Composter participants are expected to attend all of the course sessions, and set-up and operate a backyard compost or a vermicompost at home or at work. To complete the certification process, you are required to complete 30 hours of composting related volunteer activities in Manitoba within a two-year period.

Volunteer time is gained by various activities such as helping your family and neighbours start composting, setting up composting programs at a workplace or school, building community compost bins, staffing our display at public events, delivering workshops/presentations at public events and to different community groups, and other activities that promote composting. As a volunteer you are encouraged to seek out opportunities yourself.

To get familiar with the program and to find out details of the 2019 course occurring from Sept 13th to 21st, 2019, (with Sept 28th as a raindate) please visit http://greenactioncentre.ca/module/composting-2/become-a-master-composter/
