Consent for holding of data, communication and referencing
By applying, our joint aim is that you will be an NHS volunteer and will therefore have contact with vulnerable service users and visitors. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to take significant steps to protect the health and safety of our staff, volunteers, service users and those attending our sites. In order to comply with our duty of care, we require our volunteers to have the full course of COVID vaccine and we will ask for proof of vaccination during the recruitment process. Vaccination will be a condition of volunteering unless an exemption applies (proof will be required).
In order to volunteer safely with us we have to be able to contact you by email, post or phone.
Information on our database is strictly confidential and we do not pass on any personal data about you to outside organisations and/or individuals without your express personal consent.
The only exception to this might be if there is a crisis and the emergency services need to be given appropriate information.
Personal data will be processed in a manner compliant with the Information Commissioner's Office and General Data Protection Regulation. It will be stored in Canada, one of twelve countries outside the EU that the European Commission has determined favourable for data storage.
For those applicants under 18, we will require a parental consent form to be complete, once complete, we will only liaise directly with the applicant with regards to their application, progress and volunteering.
We will only accept applicants who live locally to our hospitals, the scope of this are the London Boroughs as well as Surrey and Kent for our south site hospitals.
Please note that we are delighted to accept students who wish to volunteer to enhance their UCAS applications. However our primary focus is that of our patients and the delivery of our service to the highest possible standards supersedes that of referencing for UCAS applications. Please ensure if you are volunteering to support a UCAS application, that you begin the process in plenty of time, not later than July as any date after this, we cannot guarantee that you will have started to volunteer and delivered the requisite hours for us to be able to give you a reference.
Please indicate your agreement to this by ticking the checkbox before starting your application form.
