Volunteer Policies
Volunteers are vital members of our team who share their time and talents to help us achieve our goals.
We welcome volunteer groups to the Garden to participate in one-time or recurring Horticulture and/or Grounds project(s). These are scheduled with our volunteer manager directly by emailing volunteers@hbg.org based on availability.
All additional volunteer participants should fill out our liability waiver and photo release forms electronically ahead of time. Project(s) are determined by group size, time of year and seasonal needs, Garden priorities, and age of participants. We have welcomed over 130 different corporate groups, schools, and community organizations to volunteer at the Garden since opening in 2020, and are so grateful for your support!
Example of group projects :
-
Planting trees, shrubs, and smaller plants
-
Mulching garden beds or pathways with pine straw or hardwood mulch
-
Garden clean-up after freeze events
-
Building garden beds at our community garden
-
Bayou trash clean-ups
We seek to make the Garden a safe and inviting place for all–guests, staff, and volunteers. All one-time volunteers will be required to fill out our liability waiver and publicity release before volunteering.
