RELEASE OF LIABILITY and MAINTAINING CONFIDENTIALITY
I, the undersigned volunteer, understand that as a participant in the Dallas Animal Services Volunteer Program, my status with respect to the City of Dallas is that of a volunteer only, and that I am not entitled to any compensation for performance of duties as a volunteer and that I am not entitled to any city employee benefits, of any kind or character, and am not covered by any Worker’s Compensation program.
I also acknowledge and agree to maintain the confidentiality of any information I may obtain during my work as a volunteer and understand that my work and communication regarding City business are subject to open records requests.
Due to the potential hazard of working with animals currently being maintained by the City of Dallas Animal Shelter, any visitor or volunteer who is allowed in areas of interaction with the animals must sign this release of liability. In the event of an injury to a visitor or volunteer, the City of Dallas (or any employee of the City of Dallas), will not be held responsible.
I am aware that accidents resulting in personal injury and property damage sometimes occur during participation in the activities described above and particularly can occur while I am participating in any activity working with animals.
In consideration of my participation as a volunteer in the Dallas Animal Services Volunteer Program, I expressly hold harmless from and waive against the City of Dallas, Dallas Animal Services Division, the City Manager, City Council, officers and employees, any and all claims for medical expenses, loss of services, injury to person or property, death, or other claims, actions, or liabilities made, regardless of the cause of such claims, actions, or liabilities or any concurrent or contributing fault or negligence of the City or its representatives as such may result from my volunteer activities.
In further consideration for my participation as a volunteer, I also agree to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Dallas, Dallas Animal Services Division, the City Manager, City Council, officers and employees, from and against any and all suits, actions, losses, damages, claims, or liabilities of any character, type, or description, including attorney’s fees and court costs, made by third parties against the City or its representatives which may result from my volunteer actions. I understand that the City of Dallas, Dallas Animal Services Division, the City Manager, City Council, officers and employees are not waiving any sovereign or governmental immunity, which it or they have under Texas law.
