Requirements:
- Be between 14 and 17 years of age.
- Attend interview, orientation and training sessions.
- Make a year-round commitment: as a Junior Zoo Guide you are expected to contribute at least 80 hours, including 60 hours during the summer and 20 hours in other special events.
- Wear the uniform at all times while on duty (t- shirt will be provided; black pants or shorts are the volunteer’s responsibility)
- Have dependability and enthusiasm in spades.
- Able to complete shifts independently.
Available Positions: Volunteer positions will be explained fully during the orientation session.
Responsibilities
- Act as an ambassador for the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo and provide a positive experience for visitors during their visit.
- Educate the public on animals and conservation.
- Inspire our guests to take actions that benefit conservation and stewardship of our natural world.
- Support summer camp staff during daily activities.
- Assisting staff with various conservation and community events throughout the year including ZOOLIGHTS.
- Take part in our special events.
