Important ZooTeen Applicant Information
If I become a ZooTeen:
- I confirm that I will be between 13 and 17 years old on May 1st, 2026, and understand that misrepresenting myself on this application will prohibit me from future acceptance into the program.
- I will review the orientation dates on the website, attend orientation, and complete any required training.
- I agree to be dependable, reliable and professional while representing the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.
- I agree to the requirements outlined in the program information and ZooTeen position description on the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden website.
- I have reviewed the program information on the website and understand that, as part of the program, I will have the opportunity to work in education camps, engage with visitors on zoo grounds, and participate in various conservation and community events.
- I will have fun!
Important Note: Please be aware that if you take longer than 30 minutes to complete your application in the system, you will be automatically logged out, and your application will not go through. We strongly recommend drafting your answers in a separate document first. Once you’re satisfied with your responses, you can copy and paste them into the application form. After submitting your application, you should receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive one, we recommend re-submitting your application or contacting us for assistance!
Below are the essay questions to help you prepare your responses:
- What made you excited to apply to the ZooTeen program? Is there something you hope to experience or discover that you can’t find anywhere else?
- Who is someone you look up to (real or fictional), and what qualities make them a role model in your eyes? How do they inspire you to be your best self?
- Describe a recent time you learned something new about animals, nature, or conservation. How did it affect your view on the environment or inspire you to take action?
- Can you describe a time when you tried something new or challenging? What did you gain from the experience, and how might you approach similar opportunities in this program?
- Share an accomplishment, event, or moment that led you to grow as a person or see yourself—and others—in a new light. What did you learn from this experience?
- Describe a topic or idea that completely absorbs you. Why is it so captivating, and how do you pursue learning more about it? Who or what resources do you look to for deeper understanding?
