Foster Program Policies
Thank you for your interest in fostering at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington. We are successful because of your generosity!
Foster To Adopt Policy
Fostering is a vital service that minimizes the stress of our population of animals and delivers vital care to our most vulnerable animals. Our foster program is not built to trial animals for adoption, fosters are not permitted to adopt their first foster. If you are interested in our foster-to-adopt pathway please contact foster directly at foster@southwesthumane.org.
My Impact
Our Volunteers are required to sign up for shifts and clock in and out using our Volunteer Management Software My Impact. Take note of the username and password you create in this application. This will be your username for logging hours and accessing opportunities throughout your time as a volunteer here at HSSW.
Waivers & Agreements
We require that all of our volunteers sign a volunteer agreement and waiver of liability. If you are a volunteer under the age of 18 or an adult with a legal guardian, you will need to have your guardian sign an additional waiver.
Fosters must be at least 18 years of age to foster.
If you are under the age of 18 ask your parents or guardians to apply. Regardless of age make sure all household members are comfortable with the responsibilities of fostering and practice positive reinforcement only.
Foster can not be used for Community Service Hours
