The information provided by you, will only be shared with our in-house teams including Human resources, Trustbank, Widening Participation and Trust Charities, and Volunteer Service team commissioned projects and their partners. Your personal Information is not available for sale or use by third parties. The information is used solely for managing the Volunteer Service at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust.

Personal data will be processed in a manner compliant with the Information Commissioner's Office and the General Data Protection Regulation. It will be stored in Canada, one of twelve countries outside the EU that the European Commission has determined favourable for data storage.

Guidelines for Applicants

Thank you for your interest in the employability programme via the volunteer service at Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust

The Aim – Our employability programme is a unique work experience placement programme specifically designed and funded for job seekers and unemployed people.  Our programme will get you ‘ready for work’ for at least one job role and depending on qualifications a multi-skilled discipline (clinical and non-clinical) in vital service areas including positions: as apprenticeships; administrators, clerks & receptionists; estate operatives; porters, patient transport drivers, health care assistants, trainee nurses and many more positions that we will soon have up and coming across our hospitals. 

Time scale – 8 weeks

Participants must be between 16-30 years old and meet the referral criteria below:

  • Legally residing in the Birmingham local authority area
  • Legally able to take paid employment, and/or post 16 education and training in the UK/EU Member State for the duration of the project - ASYLUM SEEKERS WHO DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO WORK are not eligible for support on this project
  • Have Capacity to attend 10-16 hours of development training for 8 weeks including 2 weeks of in-house training & skills assessments and thereafter a period of real work based experience as a placement at City Hospital or with external health and social care service partner organisations or within a community setting i.e. community project or schools
  • You are unemployed or inactive
