Windsor/Essex County Humane Society Updated Recruitment Practices
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society (WECHS)! We are grateful for the work of our volunteers and value all that they do in contribution and benefit to the animals in our care.
Please take a moment to review the following before completing our online application:
- Recruitment is based on current volunteer needs and program openings.
- Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
- All applications must be complete, including references to be eligible. Please be sure to fully read and answer each question. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- You must be able to commit to the time requirements for a minimum of one weekly, reoccurring shift for one year, to be eligible.
- Volunteer orientation and training will be hosted in shelter in the Winter and Summer. Training dates are TBD, but will be provided during the recruitment process.
- Completing an application does not guarantee a volunteer position. Only successful applicants will be contacted by email to set up an interview.
- Following successful interview and reference check, applications will be held until orientation and training is completed.
- Once completed recruitment requirements are met, volunteers will be expected to complete a Criminal Records Check. A letter of request to bring to the police station will be provided.
- Shifts times will be 8:00am - 10:00am & 4pm - 6pm
- Shift days will be 7 days a week.
- **Volunteers with the availability needed will be the only ones considered for the open position. All other accepted volunteers will be waitlisted**
