Youth Volunteer Application - Five Acres Animal Shelter

• Parent or legal guardian must be an active shelter volunteer.
  • They must complete our Main Volunteer Application, go through the onboarding process (online modules, in-person workshop, shadow training) before you can start volunteering with them. Please make sure they complete their application before you complete yours!
  • If another adult in your life is a volunteer and you want to volunteer with them, your parent/guardian and the volunteer must complete our Third-Party Supervision waiver and email it to mallary@fiveacresanimalshelter.org.
• Areas you can volunteer with an adult include:
  • Kitty Cottage Cleaning, Canine Kennel Cleaning, Canine Laundry/Dishes, Puppy Attendants
• Youth participants must remain with their adult while volunteering and may not be more than 10 feet away from the supervising adult at any time.
• Youth participants will not be able to do everything a regular volunteer can and both the youth and the adult volunteer will learn what is allowed before their first shift.

Reading to Cats (ages 8-12)

• Adult must accompany you but does not have to be a volunteer
• Happens Monday-Friday: 12pm-1pm
• Bring a book to our Kitty Cottage and read to our cats! Reading to our animals helps to socialize them and enrich their minds!

RULES FOR YOUTH VOLUNTEERS

• All youth volunteers must complete this application in full for approval
• All participants in our Youth Programs must be volunteering alongside an adult, no exceptions
• The adult supervising the youth volunteer must be at least 18-years of age
• The supervising adult must be able to oversee and manage the youth volunteer at all times
• If a youth volunteer is not volunteering alongside or being supervised by their parent or guardian, they must complete the Third-Party Supervision Waiver
