Community Service Worker Rules
You MUST be at least 16 years of age to complete community service hours with Bayou Animal Services. Court mandated hours for a felony cannot be completed at Bayou Animal Services
RULES:
1) Dress code consists of long pants or jeans, shirts with sleeves, closed-toe shoes. Do not plan to wear anything that you will worry about getting dirty and/or possibly torn.
2) Community service workers MAY NOT handle animals except to remove them from the kennel for cleaning.
3) Community service hours will only count while you are actually working. There is always something to do. If you are unsure, ask a staff member (not a volunteer).
4) Community service workers are not to spend time on their phones, You may listen to music and make or receive only emergency calls or calls for a ride home. Tell your friends that you cannot take their calls or texts while you are performing community service.
5) You will track your hours in Better Impact by clocking in and out of the shelter using the iPad located in the lobby or by downloading the app to your phone.
6) You can print hours reports for your probation officer/court.
7) If you are not working, you are not completing your community service and hours will not be logged.
8) You will be allowed one 15 minute break in the morning, 30 minutes for lunch, and one 15 minute break in the afternoon.
9) When all work is done, you will be clocked out. You will earn only time for the hours you have spent working. If you still need hours, you will need to come back another day.
10) You must treat staff, volunteers, and visitors with respect.
11 ) Violation of these rules may find you being asked to leave for the day, and repeated violations will result in you not being able to complete your community service with Bayou Animal Services. Violations will be reported to your probation officer.
