Teen Summer Shelving Opportunity Guidelines
The Teen Summer Shelving Opportunity is a special opportunity for teens to complete community service hours at the library.
There are a limited number of seats in this program. In the event of more applicants than seats, preference is given to teens who can commit to the required time commitment, who are part of the Lincoln community, who have a community service requirement for school or honor society, and who have demonstrated in their application the interest and motivation needed to be successful.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Why do I have to commit to coming in for six weeks?
We need help shelving throughout the summer! But we understand that summer is a time for vacation and family as well. We ask for six weeks so that you have time to go on vacation, but we still have enough shelvers all summer.
Can I volunteer after the summer?
We would love for you to volunteer after the summer! We'll reach out in August to see who wants to volunteer in the fall.
What if I'm busy in the fall and can only volunteer in the summer?
Not a problem! That's why we offer the summer shelving program.
What happens if I’m not able to complete 25 hours in the summer?
If you already know you will not be able to complete minimum hours, please do not apply for this opportunity. We will have more volunteer opportunities in the fall.
If your availability changes during the summer, please let us know as soon as possible. We want to work with you!
We reserve the right to not sign off on community service hours for summer shelvers who do not complete the minimum hours and who do not reach out to staff.
