MSRPAC Volunteer Agreement and Release of Liability

  • If under the age of eighteen, by clicking on the acceptance box, I am verifying that my parent/guardian has reviewed and accepted the terms of the Volunteer Agreement and Photo Release. As legal guardian, I also give MSRPAC my consent to obtain any emergency medical treatment necessary for my child's safety.
  • Never handle or treat an animal in such a way that could be construed as rough or abusive. I will always exercise compassion and care when handling animals.
  • Give at least 6 hours of my time to MSRPAC each month for 6 months. If I am unable to do this, I will inform the Volunteer Services Department. I understand that if I do not volunteer at all in a 90 day period without informing the Volunteer Services staff, I will be archived as a volunteer.
  • Hold confidential all information that I may obtain, directly or indirectly, concerning clients, animals, and staff. I understand that any violation of confidentiality may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of my volunteer status.
  • Become familiar with MSRPAC policies and procedures and carry out the duties of my position in accordance with these policies and procedures. I will uphold MSRPAC’s philosophy and standards while I am volunteering.
  • Attend any required training sessions and remain up-to-date regarding any changes made to training guidelines and program procedures. Understanding that any changes will be communicated via email, I will read emails from the Volunteer Services staff.
  • Be punctual and professional. I will conduct myself with dignity and courtesy toward others and communicate in a respectful manner. I understand that I am representing MSRPAC while volunteering and will act in a way that reflects well on the organization.
  • Pay the Volunteer Program Fee and wear the required attire to volunteer, including my Volunteer T-shirt and name badge. I understand there may be a fee to replace either my T-shirt or name badge.
  • Communicate any problems, concerns, conflicts, or suggestions related to volunteering to the Volunteer Services staff or position supervisor.
  • Use my volunteer account to clock in and out for my volunteer shift, as well as to sign up for volunteer shifts as necessary.
  • Notify the Volunteer Services staff 24 hours in advance if I am unable to attend an activity that I am scheduled for.
  • Notify the Volunteer Services staff if I choose to discontinue my volunteer service with MSRPAC.
  • Tetanus Information: Because I may handle animals, it is important to discuss the tetanus vaccine with my physician. I release MSRPAC from all responsibility that may occur because of my not pursuing this matter further and I understand whatever decision I make is at my own risk.
  • If I am bitten by an animal, I will notify MSRPAC staff immediately. I will fill out a Bite Report Form with a staff member as soon as it is safe for me to do so.
  • On behalf of myself, my children, my heirs, assignees, guardians, personal and legal representatives and executors, I hereby release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless MSRPAC, its officers, directors, and employees for any and all claims, demands, losses, costs, liabilities, damages, personal injuries and property damage, connected with my or my child’s volunteer services to MSRPAC whether caused directly or indirectly by any negligence (active or passive) attributable to MSRPAC, its officers, directors or employees.

I fully understand that:

  • I donate my services to MSRPAC as a volunteer without contemplation of compensation or future employment.

The MSRPAC reserves the right to terminate my volunteer status as a result of any of the following:

  • Any abuse or mistreatment of an animal
  • Failure to comply with organizational policies, rules and regulations
  • Unsatisfactory attitude, work or appearance
  • Any misconduct including but not limited to: inappropriate behavior, use of derogatory language or profanity, threatening language or gestures, physical or verbal personal attack of another volunteer, customer or MSRPAC staff member.
  • Any other circumstances which, in the judgment of the Volunteer Services Manager or Volunteer Services Coordinator, would make my continued service as a volunteer contrary to the best interest of the MSRPAC.

I understand and agree that these materials will become the property of MSRPAC. In addition, I waive the right to inspect or approve the finished product, including written or electronic copy, wherein my likeness appears.

Social Media Waiver

Background

Social media is the term commonly given to websites and online tools that allow users to interact with each other in some way - by sharing information, opinions, knowledge and interests. As the name implies, social media involves the building of communities or networks that encourage participation and engagement. The growing number of social media platforms provides unprecedented opportunities for community outreach, information-sharing, and advocacy. At the same time, these same platforms also create risks for the Center ‘s status and reputation.

Policy

MARY S. ROBERTS PET ADOPTION CENTER (also referred to as the “Center”) encourages its staff and volunteers to be responsible and respectful promoters and champions on behalf of the Center by spreading the word about Center work and activities using social media. However, staff and volunteers must be careful to not inadvertently violate existing policies about confidentiality, antitrust, and remember you are authorized spokespersons when participating in any social media platform. In this respect, when talking about the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center on any social media platform you are representing the center so be respectful and paint a good picture for those who might receive your message.

Guidelines

1. All who participate in social media on behalf of MARY S. ROBERTS PET ADOPTION CENTER (whether on an official Center website or informally on other sites) are expected to understand and follow these guidelines.

2. Be professional; remember you are an ambassador for the Center. When appropriate, disclose your role within MARY S. ROBERTS PET ADOPTION CENTER.

3. Be credible, accurate, fair, and thorough. Post meaningful, respectful comments: no spam and no remarks that are off-topic or offensive. When disagreeing with others ‘opinions, be objective and respectful.

4. Be responsible and deliberate. Take the time to consider your words carefully. Remember online comments are permanently available to all, and may be republished in other media and taken out of context.

5. Respect confidentiality and the privacy of others. Avoid publishing information about individuals that may not be generally available to the public.

6. Stay within the law. Antitrust, libel, copyright, and data protection laws apply.

7. Do not disclose sensitive or insider information, make commitments, or engage in activities on behalf of the Center unless you are expressly authorized to do so. I have read and understand the Social Media Policy and am giving my commitment to abide by this policy and its guidelines.

Dress Code

All volunteers must wear their designated volunteer shirt while on duty. This ensures easy identification and promotes a unified, professional appearance. Volunteers must always wear their assigned name badge to ensure clear identification for staff, visitors, and fellow volunteers. Volunteers must wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes to reduce the risk of injury and ensure proper footing in all areas of the shelter.

Prohibited Attire includes Shorts and Sweatpants as they do not provide adequate coverage to protect against scratches, bites, or exposure to cleaning chemicals and environmental hazards. Full-length, durable pants are required for safety. Other unacceptable items include Ripped, torn, or distressed clothing. Yoga pants or leggings. Open-toed or non-slip-resistant footwear.
