VTMHI Volunteer Policy
The Virginia Telemental Health Initiative (VTMHI) is a 501c3 nonprofit and first-of-its-kind statewide virtual free mental health clinic. We provide telemental health services to un- and under-insured patients by collaborating with Virginia’s free and charitable clinics and volunteer pre-licensed mental health providers in the process of completing licensure.
Our mission is twofold: to expand access to mental health services for ALL Virginians in need, and to fortify the mental health workforce by dismantling barriers to licensure. We strive to create a future where mental health is accessible, inclusive, and supported by a diverse workforce.
VTMHI is welcoming to all with regard to sex, race, color, age, national origin, religion, disability, genetic information, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, citizenship, pregnancy or maternity, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable national, federal, state or local law.
VTMHI volunteers commit to a minimum of six months of service, seeing at least 3 patients per week. Clinical supervision, training, and certification are available to support our volunteers in both their clinical and professional development.
