Level II/III Volunteer Application Form
Level II - Classroom Support - Direct interaction with learners under staff supervision.
Requirements:
- All Level I +
- Criminal background/fingerprint check is not required, but SCC reserves the right to perform a Megan's Law search.
- Signed Emergency Health Form
- TB Test/Risk Assessment (per CA guidelines)
- Additional school site clearance (if applicable)
Examples of Level II volunteer opportunities:
- Classroom volunteer
- Traffic assistant
- Lunch distribution
- Accompanying your own learner on a field trip (in a non-driving capacity)
Level III volunteers (High Responsibility) - Unsupervised direct interaction with learners or high-risk roles (overnight field trip chaperone, leadership)
Requirements:
In addition to all of the requirements above, these volunteers must undergo:
- a criminal background/fingerprint check. Level III volunteers must have no record of a serious or violent felony conviction (pursuant to Ed Code 45122.1) or requirement to register as a sex offender under California law (Penal Code 290).
- Mandated Reporter Training
Examples of Level III volunteer opportunities:
- Seminar lead
- After-school tutor
- Playground supervision
- Escorting learners for photo day, health screenings, etc.
- Overnight field trip chaperone
Definition of Volunteer
Volunteers are individuals who donate their time, without financial compensation, to benefit our school community. Volunteer participation may occur in a classroom setting during the school day or outside the school setting as part of an extracurricular activity. School policy prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, creed, marital status, sex, religion, age, disability, or any other protected status as defined by federal, state or local law.
