Conservation Land Stewards (CLS) and Citizen Science (CS) Requirements
Thank you for your willingness to help EALT in our stewardship and monitoring as a Conservation Land Steward (CLS) or Citizen Scientist (CS).

Please take note of the requirements and expectations of each of these programs. During the application, you will see āiā icons next to questions with more details ā please refer to them to answer each question adequately.
To volunteer in these programs, you must be able to:
- Complete the required amount of visits to the land (often monthly or twice monthly, depending on the program).
- Visit the land with a field partner (this can be another volunteer, or an untrained family member/friend). For your safety, we do not assign partners, but we can connect you to other volunteers in the program.
- Complete the full commitment of the program (2 years for CLS, 4 months for CS).
- Have access to a vehicle to travel to the conservation lands
- Navigate rural roads and find our conservation lands with the provided directions.
- Interpret maps in order to navigate your way around the conservation land.
- Complete Health and Safety training with EALT staff (online and/or in person).
- Walk over uneven terrain and carry supplies.
- Communicate with EALT staff about your visits and observations through email and/or the volunteer app (available for IOS and Android).
- Represent EALT in a professional manner while on your visits.
