Teen Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in joining our Teen Program! We are excited to get to know you!
Teen Volunteers of Hospice of Wichita Falls is an opportunity for incoming juniors and seniors to delve into intentional and meaningful volunteering. Our program provides opportunities for students to gain knowledge and experience in a variety of career fields while developing necessary skills for higher education or future employment!
Goals & Objectives:

To support Hospice of Wichita Falls’ mission statement: To provide care, hope, and support for all when illness threatens life

To challenge volunteers to develop and strengthen skills such as leadership, communication, and customer service

To provide volunteers with education and training opportunities
-
To create an environment that is inclusive of all and welcomes members’ ideas and feedback

To support the staff and patients/families on our services

To help create a comforting experience for visitors in the Inpatient Care Center
To become a Teen Volunteer, you must meet the following requirements:

Be an incoming Junior/Senior in high school and at least 15 years of age

Signed permission of Guardian

Complete the online application
-
At least two references by people who are unrelated to you (preferably one teacher and one community member)

Interview with Volunteer Program Specialist at Hospice of Wichita Falls

Complete required training in March of 2024. (2 hour IN PERSON opening session, followed by 2-3 weeks of self-paced learning guided by provided videos, 2 hour IN PERSON closing session)

Have reliable transportation to and from volunteer activities
- Must complete a 2 step TB screening (HOWF nurse will administer), or provide record of one within the last 12 months.
- Pass a background and drug screening
Application and recommendation forms are due no later than February 1st at 5pm.
Interviews will be conducted in February of 2024.
* Please note that we are only accepting a total of 25 students for the 2023 HOWF Teen Program. *
