Volunteer Confidentiality Pledge
VOLUNTEER PLEDGE
As a volunteer at Margaret's Place Hospice at St. Joseph’s Villa, I take the following pledge.
I understand the confidential information which shall be disclosed to me, or which may come to my knowledge, may not be divulged within or outside of Margaret's Place Hospice unless required by St. Joseph’s Villa/Hospice. Also, I must hold medical or any other information regarding the Villa, and its residents, in confidence.
Confidentiality is: Trust, responsibility, and privacy. Everyone who volunteers on the St. Joseph’s Villa campus (including Hospice) is responsible for ensuring confidentiality. Residents and their family expect me to treat the things I learn about them in a confidential manner.
Trust: Trust develops through communication between the residents and me.
Privacy: Residents retain the right to privacy. Their home is at Margaret's Place. Information about them, their illness or their families, should not be discussed with staff, other volunteers or friends.
I accept the responsibility to abide by the standards and policies of Margaret's Place at St. Joseph’s Villa and the Volunteer Department as instructed during the application process and training. All volunteers must wear volunteer badges and all efforts must be taken to attend your assignments as agreed upon in taking this volunteer placement.
