Youth Peer Volunteer Role Statement
Hello!
Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a Youth Peer Volunteer with headspace Early Psychosis!
Our Youth Peer Volunteer program hub is at headspace Bentleigh, as this is also the hub for the headspace Early Psychosis program in South East Melbourne. Most of our training and supervision will be held at headspace Bentleigh. We offer Youth Peer Volunteer opportunities at headspace centres in Bentleigh, Frankston and Narre Warren. Our service would like to expand to our other centres in Dandenong and Elsternwick too.

Peer Volunteer role requirements
- Has a lived/living experience of mental health challenges as a young person during ages 12-25
- Has accessed support and is willing to learn how to reflect on and share these experiences to support young people accessing support at headspace
- Is aged 18-30
- Is available to volunteer for one day per week (2-5 hours) for 12 months
- Can provide a valid Working With Children Check and Police Check clearance
- Can attend training sessions and supervision on Monday's from May to August

We highly encourage you to apply, and will prioritise your application if you:
- Are part of the LGBTIQA+ community
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Have a refugee or migrant background
- Have accessed support for drug and/or alcohol use
- Have accessed support for homelessness
- Have experienced barriers when accessing support including for mental health, alcohol and other drug use, or homelessness
