CRC Member Expectations
Serving on the Charter Review Committee (CRC) is a significant commitment and directed by Oregon and county law. Before completing this application, please review and confirm your capacity to meet the following expectations and your eligibility to serve.
Environment
The charter review process operates transparently and is a highly visible project. The work product and meetings will be subject to public meeting laws and accessible to the public. The work of the CRC will draw media attention and advocacy by community groups.
Time Commitment
Membership involves about 18 months of service with the meeting schedule and frequency determined by the CRC members. In the past, the CRC has typically met once or twice a month for two hours in the evening, and included additional time participating in subcommittee meetings. In addition, there is an expectation that CRC members will likely spend five to 12 hours a month outside of meetings to read reports, study the current county charter, engage the public, and prepare draft recommendations.
Eligibility
Accordingly The following persons are not eligible for appointment to the charter review committee:
- state senators and state representatives who represent districts located in Multnomah County
- the Chair and members of the Board of County Commissioners serving at the time of appointment
- people younger than 18 years of age
- people who are not US citizens
- people who are not eligible to vote in Multnomah County
- people who live outside of Multnomah County
I Agree
I hereby certify that I am comfortable working in the charter environment, available to meet the time commitment, and eligible to serve on the Charter Review Committee.
