Minimum Volunteer Requirements
To be a teen volunteer you must confirm you meet the Minimum Volunteer Requirements:
1. I am currently in middle school or high school (grades 6 - 12).
2. I am able to be courteous and respectful to all staff members, library patrons, and other volunteers.
- If a patron or another volunteer makes me uncomfortable, I will ask a library staff member for help.
3. I am able to follow instructions, ask questions when further clarification is needed, and fulfill assigned tasks.
4. I am able to manage my own schedule and show up to my volunteer shifts on time and ready to work.
- If I am going to be late to a scheduled time, I will call the library at 817-491-2691.
- If I need to cancel or reschedule within 24 hours of my shift, I will email or call the library as soon as possible to notify them.
Additional Notes on Teen Volunteering:
Any student who fails to do the work assigned to them with a positive and respectful attitude may be asked to leave, and may not receive credit for the time worked. Additionally, they may be barred from scheduling any future volunteer hours for a period of time, as determined by the teen librarian or library manager.
The library closes at 8:00pm Monday through Thursday and 6:00pm Fridays and Saturdays. Make sure your ride is on time to pick you up. If your ride is unable to pick you up before the library closes, we may call a Roanoke Police Officer to come sit with you until you are picked up.
