The Application Process
Apply today if:
- You live in the local government area.
- You're able to commit to weekly or fortnightly volunteer shifts for a minimum of 12 months.
- You’re looking for new friendships, a new community, and want to be part of something bigger than yourself.
- You’re always up for a new challenge, you’re willing to learn and be flexible.
- Integrity and open-mindedness are your guiding principles. You value confidentiality and treat everyone with dignity and respect.
- If you are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and/or speak multiple languages, such as Mandarin, Dari, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Dinka, Arabic, Greek or any other language, we want you on our team! However, basic English language, reading and writing skills are essential.
Please Note: Volunteering at Western Health is not a pathway to employment. We discourage applications from individuals whose primary motivation is to gain employment at Western Health.
We ask that you are willing to obtain the relevant checks which include:
- A Police Check (this will be issued by Western Health at no cost to you)
- A Working with Children Check
- Agree to Western Health’s immunisation requirements.

Please do not apply for these checks before chatting with a member of the Volunteer Coordination team. We will support you to obtain these checks prior to you becoming your volunteer role with us. If you don’t have a computer or struggle with technology, don’t worry! We will guide you through this process when the time comes.
Meet the Western Health Volunteer Coordination Team!
