Thank you for your interest in the Rutgers Master Gardener Program in Union County. Our 2026 Master Gardener training program will begin in October 2026.
Classes will be held on Tuesday mornings at the Trailside Nature and Science Center, 452 New Providence Road in Mountainside from 10am-12:30pm. The new course will feature horticultural training with an emphasis on volunteer outreach training.
Rutgers is hosting orientation Zoom meetings for people interested in becoming volunteer Master Gardeners. The purpose of this Orientation is to provide you with all the information you need to decide if becoming Rutgers Master Gardener is right for you. We will review the program's role, structure, training, and commitment.
If you are interested in participating in our 2026 training program, please register for one the orientation sessions being offered May 5th, 7th, or 11th from 10am-10:45am.

Space is limited to 40 participants for each session, allowing plenty of time and opportunity for questions and discussion. Register today to secure your spot in an orientation session! Additional information for applying to the program in Union County will be provided to those who attend the session. We will be accepting 25 volunteers for the 2026 training program.
