WELCOME STATEMENT
Darebin City Council acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land and waters we now call Darebin, and pays respect to their Elders, past and present. Council also recognises other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities who have a long-standing and unique role in the life of the Darebin municipality.
Darebin is now home to a diverse community of people of various cultures, genders, ages, abilities, ethnicities, languages, socio-economic levels, sexualities, gender identities, faiths, and beliefs. Council aims to be an accessible, equitable, inclusive, safe, and respectful place of work which actively welcomes and supports the inclusion of all volunteers and students. We value and celebrate the diversity of those who choose to volunteer with us.
Thank you for taking an interest in volunteering with the City of Darebin (Council). The role of a volunteer is viewed by Council as an essential component to helping communities keep connected and engaged. We are committed to ensuring a safe, inclusive and enjoyable volunteer experience for our diverse community.
To volunteer in the Darebin Intercultural Centre, volunteers will be required to:
- hold a valid Working with Children Check if you are 18 years of age and over (the 'Volunteer' WWCC is free)
- complete a Police Check (at no cost to you)
We can assist you with completing these screening checks.
