TITP Volunteering Commitment
Please complete this form so that we can onboard you as an official volunteer for The Innovators' Tea Party' inc. Your involvement can be as much or as little as you like - from a single event scheduled for your local area or multiple events throughout the year.
We are recruiting two types of volunteers:
- A group of Women in STEM Mentors to participate as speakers/presenters at our events. If you identify as a woman and you are working or studying in a STEM field, then this option is for you. Please note that we are very liberal with our definition of 'STEM' - as long as you can talk about how you use maths and science as a tool to do your job, we want to hear from you! All pathways to STEM (tertiary qualified or not) are very welcome and in fact we love to showcase all different avenues to find a great job.
- A group of Volunteer Event Helpers to assist with running our events, but not necessarily speaking at the events as a 'Women in STEM mentor'. This option is great for undergraduate students, people who don’t identify as women in STEM or those who simply want to help in the background without needing to prepare a speech or engage directly with students etc. (an EQUALLY important volunteer role!). We very much struggle to recruit for these roles and often the task falls to our volunteer committee, so we would be very excited to receive more nominations to this volunteering position.
Training materials and support will be provided for each event type.
Once you have submitted your application, you will be able to view the events calendar on your Better Impact profile and sign up for specific events. We will also send you an email each term confirming the available events for volunteers.
It’s important that each of our events feature Women in STEM from a wide range of fields, industries and educational pathways. This means that occasionally we may not accept every volunteer for every event to ensure that we meet a good spread of speakers but please don’t take this to heart!
About our events:
We run 2 key event types (1) STEM Speed Networking (one-on-one chats with upper high school students with props/an activity, usually on a Saturday) and (2) Inspire in 5 (a series of presentations followed by a facilitated Q&A, for lower high school students and their parents/educators, usually on a weeknight). We also run events at schools during school hours that may include one or both event types depending on what the school has requested. Some regional opportunities will also be available. If you're part of our mentor pool, you'll be able to opt in to upcoming events based on your preferences for both event type and your availability.
