Junior Zoo Crew Program Policy
To be considered for Junior Zoo Crew, candidates must be at least 14 years old by May 31 of the current year and no older than 17 years on the last day of the session to which they apply. All candidates must submit a new application each year. First-time applicants are also required to upload a letter of recommendation in their application and attend an interview at the zoo. After the selection process is complete, all candidates are notified whether or not they have been accepted to Junior Zoo Crew by email.
All accepted Junior Zoo Crew members must attend the mandatory trainings outlined in this application and participate the entire 3 weeks of their session. Saturday and/or holiday shifts are sometimes required.
Junior Zoo Crew is an educational program. As such, a nonrefundable registration fee of $95.40, tax included ($76.32, tax included, for Tautphaus Park Zoological Society members) is charged per session the candidate participates in. Registration fees cover training, program materials, one uniform shirt, a zoo nametag, and a celebration event near the end of summer. Registration instructions are provided upon acceptance to Junior Zoo Crew for the season.
