Volunteer Policies
Below contains important information for Village Project Student Volunteers. Please read the information carefully. Student cooks are eligible to work in the kitchen once they have completed 8th grade.
There are many student cooks serving in the VP kitchen so scheduling can be challenging. To ensure clear and consistent communication, we ask that:
-
Students schedule themselves in My Impact and commit to working their assigned shifts.
- Students regularly access My Impact to review their schedules.
A fully staffed kitchen is essential to fulfilling our commitment to providing delicious, nourishing meals to our clients. Students can help support this effort by following these expectations:
-
Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts.
-
If you are unable to work a scheduled shift, remove yourself from the schedule and notify the VP office as soon as possible by email or by calling 440.348.9401 so we can arrange coverage.
-
If you are ill, please do not come to the kitchen. Notify us promptly so we can find a substitute.
The following requirements must be followed while working in the kitchen:
- Closed-toed shoes must be worn at all times.
- Long hair must be securely pulled back.
- Hair must be covered with a hair net, bandana, or hat
- Hands must be washed thoroughly when entering or re-entering the kitchen.
In addition, cell phones are not permitted in the kitchen.
