Code of Conduct
TAPS Code of Conduct:
Please read through and agree to our code of conduct before completing your application.
- I will not release any confidential information including but not limited to the names or contact information of anyone adopting or surrendering an animal.
- I will not listen to or repeat any gossip or rumor about any TAPS volunteer, staff member, or board member. If I have concerns, I will talk to the Volunteer Coordinator.
- I will not post any derogatory, critical, or negative remarks about TAPS, the staff, or volunteers on any social networking site, public forum, or media.
- I will not put my fingers in the cages or kennels, even if I know the animal, because it sets a bad example to the general public and other volunteers.
- I will be courteous to the staff, volunteers, and the general public.
- I will be helpful to staff, other volunteers, and the public.
- I will dress appropriately for all TAPS functions, off-site events, and fund raisers. TAPS shirts or sweat shirts are encouraged, but not required. Jeans, khakis, or shorts are okay as long as they are clean and neat.
- I will not tease or make derogatory remarks to or about any of the animals.
- I will maintain safe distance between myself and other volunteers when walking dogs: a minimum of 6 feet.
- If I do not feel comfortable working with an animal, I will not do it.
- If I need help I will ask another volunteer or staff member for help.
- I will not come to the shelter impaired, even from prescription medication. If my reflexes are impaired, I could put other humans or animals at risk.
