Volunteer Eligibility and Requirements

The Kanata Food Cupboard welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds and walks of life and is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and appreciated. We recognize the unique skills, experiences, and perspectives each volunteer brings and the important role they play in supporting our community.
Volunteer Requirements:
- Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
- A minimum commitment of six months is required to volunteer.
- All volunteers are required to complete an application form, successfully complete a phone interview, and submit a criminal record check. Prior to beginning their volunteer duties, volunteers must attend an initial orientation, followed by role-specific, on-the-job training to ensure they are prepared for their responsibilities.
- Volunteers must be comfortable working in a busy food bank environment, which may include interacting with members of the public, working alongside other volunteers and staff, and safely navigating an active warehouse setting.
Please note: Applications will not be processed for programs that are not open for recruitment. We have a limited number of available openings, and applicants must meet the volunteer requirements to be considered for an interview. We thank all applicants for applying; however, only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted.
