Volunteer Requirements

*Note: The Ronald McDonald House Southeastern MN & Western WI cannot approve court-mandated service hours, therefore are unable to accept volunteers needing to complete required community service hours.
Are you someone who is willing to share time, helping with what needs to be done?
We need volunteers who show up ready and willing to help with whatever needs doing to support a safe, sanitary and welcoming environment for families. By doing these things, you are ultimately helping families staying at the House!
To ensure a safe, welcoming, and successful experience for all, all volunteers must:
- Be at least 16 years old and able to meet the physical requirements of the volunteer role, including lifting a minimum of 10 pounds, walking approximately 700 steps, and sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Be in good overall health and able to follow RMH health and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrate compassion, kindness, professionalism, and respect for people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Have strong communication, interpersonal, and independent working skills.
- Be reliable, flexible, self-motivated, and adaptable to the changing needs of families and the House.
- Commit to at least 6 months of service, averaging two shifts per month, or as otherwise agreed upon by the Volunteer Staff Team.
- For those 18 and older, successfully complete a criminal background check (minor traffic violations excluded).
