Volunteer Agreement
We want to make sure that while you are volunteering with Newcastle City Council, you feel supported, informed, and valued. This agreement outlines what you can expect from us and what we ask of you in return.
As a volunteer, you agree to:
- Embrace and demonstrate our values at all times.
- Act as a positive ambassador for Newcastle City Council.
- Help create an environment where everyone feels welcome, respected, and included.
- Follow reasonable directions and instructions from council staff.
- Share your ideas, feedback, and opinions with us.
- Speak to us directly if you have any questions or concerns so we can support you.
- Let us know as early as possible if you are unable to attend a volunteering session.
In return, we will:
- Provide opportunities for you to make a meaningful and valued contribution.
- Offer a proper induction and any relevant training to help you succeed in your role.
- Keep you informed about what’s happening across the city and within the council.
- Treat you fairly, with dignity and respect, in line with the Equality Act.
- Create and maintain a safe and supportive volunteering environment.
- Give you opportunities to share your views and experiences.
- Provide a named contact for advice, questions, or support.
- Offer clear guidance on how to raise concerns and opportunities to give feedback on your role.
- Regularly thank and recognise you for your time, commitment, and hard work.
Please note: When signing up to volunteer with Newcastle City Council , your application represents an individual unless you contact us to register as a group. This means we are unable to allow anyone to bring additional people along on tasks with them, including children or friends. We also cannot accept pets (excluding service animals) at volunteering tasks.
