Your privacy is important to us. Any information provided in this application will be held confidentially by Newtown Mission UCA for the purposes of processing volunteer applications and engagement.
Jordan Cafe Volunteer Application Process
Thank you for taking the time to complete an application to volunteer with us at the Jordan Cafe, Newtown Mission. Please read the following information carefully.

Application Process
1. Filling the form.
- The application form creates a profile in this portal which is called MyImpactPage. It is managed by the software system and company BetterImpact.
- Filling the form may take up to 20 MINUTES to complete
- It cannot be saved and returned to, please ensure you have time to complete it
- USERNAME: use your email address
- DOCUMENTS TO SIGN: these are better viewed on a computer, please scroll to the right when viewing the documents to ensure you do not miss any fields
- Make sure to fill all questions with a flag/star next to them
- WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK: To volunteer with us you will also need a valid Working with Children Check. You can apply for the WWCC after you fill this form
- Other NGOs and charities use this portal, so you may already have a profile. If you are not sure whether you do, type your email into all three fields in the I am New to MyImpactPage.com section. The system will tell you whether you do have one. If you do, you must sign in under the I Already Have a Username section, you may need to utilise the forgotten password function.
2. After Filling the Form
- We will look at your application and may invite your for an interview
- Referees are called after the interview.
- If successful, there is a trial period of 4 weeks to see if the volunteer role is suitable
- After this, we ask for a commitment to the role of at least 6 months
Volunteering Characteristics
Volunteering can be a rewarding experience but it can also be challenging in a diverse environment that supports people who are vulnerable. Volunteers and community members all have different stories and experiences. We think the following characteristics will help your volunteering experience be a success:

- An ability to adapt with a changing environment
- A proactive can do attitude
To volunteer, you do not have to be an extrovert or an introvert - just be yourself, be kind and respectful!
Volunteering Opportunities
Here are some of the volunteering opportunities we have:
- Unloading food deliveries from OzHarvest
- Food preparation
- Kitchen clean up and dishes
- Serving food
- Connecting with community
- Supporting with administration
Volunteering Times
Possible times for volunteering are:
- Tuesday afternoons
- Wednesday morning an afternoons
- Thursday evenings
- Friday morning and afternoons
Seeing what we are like
If you haven't already, we also suggest coming to one of lunches or dinners to see if you think the environment would suit you. Lunches are served on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-2pm Dinner is served on Thursdays from 7-8pm with a chapel service beforehand at 6pm
