IPC Health Volunteer information

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer with IPC Health.

We’re excited that you’re considering joining us. You might be a perfect fit if:

  • You live in the local government area and are 18 years or older.
  • You can commit to volunteering weekly or fortnightly for at least 12 months.
  • You’re seeking new friendships, a strong community, and the chance to be part of something bigger
  • You embrace new challenges, are eager to learn, and adaptable to change
  • You lead with integrity and a client-centred mindset, value confidentiality, and treat everyone with respect and dignity

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Join us and help create a healthier, more connected community.

Requirements to volunteer

It is a requirement for ALL IPC Health volunteers to provide their immunisation history for the following:

  • MMR (Measles Mumps Rubella)
  • Varicella (Chicken Pox)
  • Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccinated within the last 10 years
  • Influenza (Flu) for this year
  • Hep A

We also strongly recommend that you have the two COVID 19 vaccinations plus any boosters you are eligible for.

Usually, you have either been immunised or had these during childhood. If you were vaccinated in Australia in the early 1990s or after and you have access to Medicare, these will appear on your Medicare Immunisation History. If not, you can go to a doctor to organise a blood test which will show your immunity status. Whooping cough needs to be updated every 10 years so if you haven’t had this vaccination in that time you may need to get one.

IPC Health can reimburse out of pocket expenses for doctor's appointment, blood tests and catch-up vaccines if needed. Just keep your receipts.

Police Check Police Check and Working with Children Check

Working with Children Check: All staff and volunteers need a current Working with Children Check. Go to Working with Children Check (service.vic.gov.au) to apply. This is free for volunteers. If you have a current card upload it to the registration form or send it to me.

Police Check: we ask for your permission to get a police check for you. You do not need to organise this yourself. We will organise and pay for this – you will get a separate e-mail from CV Check with detailed instructions and request for ID documents.
