Immunisations Requirements to volunteer

All IPC Health volunteers are required to provide evidence of their immunisation history for the following:
Pertussis (Whooping Cough): Required for volunteers who will have contact with children and pregnant women.
Please note that the Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccination should be updated every 10 years. If you have not received a booster within this period, you may need to be revaccinated.

The following vaccinations are also recommended:

  • Coronavirus (COVID-19)
  • Hepatitis A
  • Influenza (annual vaccination)
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella Zoster (Chickenpox)
In most cases, people have either received these vaccinations or developed immunity during childhood. If you were vaccinated in Australia from the early 1990s onwards and have access to Medicare, your immunisation records may be available through your Medicare Immunisation History
If your vaccination history is unavailable or incomplete, you can arrange a blood test through your doctor to determine your immunity status.

IPC Health can reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses associated with meeting these requirements, including: Doctor's appointments, Blood tests, Catch-up vaccinations

Please retain all receipts so reimbursement can be processed.

Police Check Police Check and Working with Children Check

Working with Children Check: All staff and volunteers need a current Working with Children Check. Go to Working with Children Check (service.vic.gov.au) to apply. This is free for volunteers. If you have a current card upload it to the registration form or send it to us.

Police Check: We ask for your permission to get a police check for you. You do not need to organise this yourself. We will organise and pay for this – you will get a separate e-mail from CV Check with detailed instructions and request for ID documents.
