Organization Policies
Please read the following information carefully before accepting:
To volunteer without a parent you must be:
- 16 years of age or older
- Or if Under 16 volunteer with a parent or guardian that is 18 years of age or older.
Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience and a lot of fun. However, it is not for everyone. It will involve time and commitment on your part. As a volunteer with CAAWLS you may be responsible for attending wellness events and/or fundraising events. For those volunteering with a pet, you will also be responsible for the care and safety of your animal at all times. This will include making sure your animal’s vaccinations are up to date, they have no transmittable diseases or ailments, they are clean, fed, and have relieved themselves before events, they have an adequate water supply, and they are not in any physical or emotional discomfort during events. Animal handling safety training is mandatory prior to volunteering.
As a volunteer with CAAWLS you will be a representative of the organization and must conduct all communications with each member of the organization and associates of the organization in a respectable manner as disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated.
As a volunteer with CAAWLS you will also be expected to understand and adhere to all volunteer policies when representing CAAWLS at wellness events and any other activities.
Understand that we (the employees and board Members of CAAWLS) will assist, and train you for any roles that you would be assigned to and if any problem arises know that we will react to your needs with respect and efficiency as we have no wish to lose our valued volunteers.
I acknowledge that any equipment, official material, donations, or identification issued to me by CAAWLS remains the property of CAAWLS and must be returned upon my resignation, termination, or on demand. This includes, but is not limited to, your animal's bandana, your CAAWLS T-Shirt, and your CAAWLS I.D.
I agree to only use my CAAWLS bandana on the animal that I have certified through CAAWLS.
I agree to only use my CAAWLS bandana at CAAWLS – sanctioned events and never in public, as I will only be covered by CAAWLS insurance at CAAWLS-sanctioned events.
By completing this form I certify that I understand the information given and my responsibilities as a CAAWLS volunteer.
