Volunteer Policies
Hospice East Bay offers a diverse range of volunteer opportunities, from providing support to patients and their families to offering grief support for both children and adults. We also offer opportunities to assist with administrative tasks. Training sessions for these volunteer roles are held throughout the year, ensuring everyone is well-prepared to make a meaningful impact.
Volunteer Requirements and Expectations
All volunteers play an important role in representing our organization and supporting our mission. To ensure a safe, professional, and rewarding experience for everyone, we ask all volunteers to meet the following requirements and expectations:
-
Background Check & Documentation: All volunteers must successfully complete a background check, provide required documentation, and complete orientation and any mandatory training.
-
Time Commitment: Volunteers are expected to dedicate an average of one hour per week to their assigned tasks.
-
Ongoing Engagement: Volunteers are encouraged to participate in enrichment activities per year (based upon your length of service), offered throughout the year to enhance connection, learning, and engagement.
-
Compliance & Credentials: Volunteers must maintain compliance with online education modules, keep a valid form of identification, and provide proof of required vaccinations (or approved exemptions), health screenings, and current professional certifications, as applicable.
-
Communication: Most communication will occur via text and email. Volunteers should be comfortable using these methods, including opening, editing, and sending PDF documents.
Please note that participation in the volunteer program is contingent upon meeting these requirements. The organization reserves the right to temporarily or permanently deny entry into the program as needed. All volunteers are expected to uphold our policies, values, and guidelines while representing our organization.
