Application Process
El Camino de San Antonio Missions wants YOU for its new Docent Program. The San Antonio missions receive over one million visitors a year, but there are currently no docents inside the mission churches to greet visitors and explain the architecture, history and the faith that created and sustains the missions. We are seeking volunteer docents that are enthusiastic and flexible to greet visitors and assist them in discovering the sacred space of the missions.
Selected docents will participate in a series of training sessions and learn about the architecture, art and faith of the missions as well as educational methods and visitor engagement.
Please consider these questions before beginning the application process:
- Do I embrace an interactive, participatory style of teaching?
- Do I feel comfortable speaking in front of groups?
- Am I able to facilitate discussion in a friendly and engaging manner?
- Am I willing to learn from and work with other people?
- Do I have the time and flexibility in my schedule to attend education sessions and volunteer at least 4 times a month over the course of a year?
- Are you comfortable discussing the Catholic faith with persons of other faiths and beliefs?
