Volunteer Waiver
I volunteer my services to The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems at UBC Farm ("UBC Farm") free of charge, and I recognize certain risks of injury and damage to my person and property while volunteering my services to UBC Farm are beyond the control of the University of British Columbia ("UBC"). These risks include, but are not restricted to, injuries due to rough, unstable and slippery terrain, unpredictable animal behavior, use of equipment, and transportation hazards.
I understand that I am obliged to acquire and use appropriate clothing and footwear to meet these risks. I also understand that it is my obligation to ensure that I am adequately trained to carry out the volunteer tasks assigned by UBC Farm.

I understand that if I have an allergy it is my responsibility to let the supervisor of my volunteer shift know and I will remove myself from a situation where I may come in contact with the item that I am allergic to. I also acknowledge that I will carry the necessary medication to manage an allergic reaction if one takes place.
I am aware that I should arrange my own medical/accident insurance coverage. UBC's insurance coverage for me is limited to Accidental Death and Dismemberment and Accident Expenses Reimbursement Coverage.
I understand that UBC may occasionally take pictures of its volunteers for use in promotional/advertisement materials or publications (brochures, websites, newspaper ads, etc.) and that my photo may be used in such material.
Therefore, I hereby release UBC, its officers, agents, employees and students from any and all claims and causes of action arising from injury or damage to or loss of property while volunteering my services to UBC Farm except to the extent that such injury or damage is caused by the negligence of the University or its employees.
