Solstice Sanctuary Code of Conduct

1. I certify that all statements made by me on this volunteer application are true and correct. I understand that filling out this application does not automatically qualify me to become a volunteer at Solstice Sanctuary (“SS”) however, should I become a volunteer, this form will serve as a volunteer agreement (“Agreement”) and is entered into as of the date set forth below by Solstice Sanctuary. WHEREAS, the Volunteer has voluntarily contacted SS and has expressed an interest in working with animals in the care and custody of SS. In consideration of SS’s agreement to allow the Volunteer to view and/or interact with such animals, the Volunteer hereby, for his/her heirs, his/her personal representatives, and him/herself represent and warrant as follows: 1. The volunteer is fully aware of the risks that animals pose and have elected to view and/or interact with one or more farm animals in the care of SS voluntarily. The Volunteer knowingly assumes all risks that exposure to animals may pose, including but not limited to serious bodily injury and/or death. 2. THE VOLUNTEER HEREBY WAIVES, RELEASES DISCHARGES, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISES TO INDEMNIFY AND NOT TO BRING SUITE AGAINST SS, its directors, volunteers, staff, and all other agents, and attorney for any of the referenced parties and any other parties acting for or on behalf of the referenced parties from any and all rights and claims which the volunteer has or which may hereafter accrue to the volunteer and from any and all damages which may be sustained by the volunteer directly or indirectly in connection with, or arising out of, the volunteer’s exposure to such animals.

 

2. Volunteers must agree to the mission statement:

 

“Solstice Sanctuary is a healing center for animals and humans. The sanctuary is a safe place for animals who have experienced trauma or have found themselves without a home. We incorporate the land into the healing. As the land aids the animals in their healing journey, the animals offer support to help heal the humans in return. Essentially, we heal full circle from our trauma together.”

 

3. Code of Conduct

As representatives of the organization, volunteers are expected to treat all individuals with respect, dignity, and kindness, regardless of their position or background. Disparaging discussions against the organization, its stakeholders, or its mission will not be tolerated.

 

Solstice Sanctuary volunteers are committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in all aspects of the organization’s operations. As advocates for animal welfare, they prioritize the well-being, safety, and dignity of every animal under the organization’s care. Volunteers will prioritize their physical and emotional well-being in all decisions and actions.

Volunteers treat every animal with kindness, respect, and empathy, recognizing their individual needs and unique personalities. They adhere to humane practices in all aspects of animal rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption. Volunteers must treat all Sanctuary animals with equal care and attention.

Solstice Sanctuary strives to maintain a workplace that is free from harassment. Any volunteer who engages in discriminatory or harassing conduct towards is subject to removal. Complaints alleging misconduct on the part of volunteers will be investigated promptly.

 

At Solstice Sanctuary, we have a strict zero-tolerance policy against discrimination in any form. This includes actions, comments, or behaviors targeting individuals based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics. Violations of this policy will result in immediate disciplinary action, including termination. We also support legal consequences as per applicable laws. Reports of discrimination should be made promptly to a Board Member. Reports will be treated confidentially, and whistleblowers will be protected from retaliation. We are committed to cultivating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
