A note about volunteer insurance
Blacktown City Council has a personal accident insurance policy which covers staff and volunteers for accidental injury or death. However, it is important for volunteers to note that because of legislation, insurers cannot cover any out of hospital expenses that have a Medicare component. This means the policy only covers non-Medicare medical expenses, and in the event of an accident or injury there may be a need for the volunteer to cover outstanding gap expenses.
