WSCC Volunteer Agreement Policy
I West Sussex County Council Agree
- To provide an appropriate induction and training for the volunteer role including an overview of the work of the county council
- To explain the standards we expect of our volunteers and to support you to achieve and maintain them
- To provide a mentor and a line manager whom you can refer to and with whom you can discuss your duties
- To do our best to help you develop your skills during your time with us
- To respect you, listen to your views and ensure you are included in discussions relevant to your role
- To keep you informed of possible changes affecting your volunteer role
- To reimburse agreed ‘out of pocket’ expenses in accordance with the county council’s Volunteer Expenses Criteria
- To complete any necessary risk assessments in relation to your role and put in place any requirements to ensure your safety whilst undertaking your volunteering duties
- To provide adequate training and information in accordance with the county council’s health and safety policies
- To provide insurance cover for you whilst undertaking your volunteering duties
- To aim to resolve fairly any issues, concerns and difficulties you may have in your volunteer duties and, in the event of an unresolved issue, to provide an opportunity for you to follow the county council’s grievance procedure
I the Volunteer Agree
- To help West Sussex County Council in the delivery of its services and perform my role to the best of my ability
- To treat fellow volunteers, employees of the county council, those who use our services and members of the public considerately and with respect
- To attend all agreed volunteering sessions punctually and provide as much notice as possible whenever I am going to be late or cannot attend an agreed session
- To attend all training sessions relevant to the role
- To follow, as instructed, West Sussex County Council’s rules, procedures and standards, including health and safety and equality and diversity, in relation to other volunteers, staff and service users
- To inform a line manager if any health concerns arise which may be adversely affected by my volunteering role or may endanger my safety or the safety of others
- If the role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, to inform a line manager if I become the subject of any potential police proceedings or have been referred by the DBS
