WSN Volunteer Policies

Crisis Line:
a) Training and Skill Maintenance
i) Volunteers will complete all virtual modules, live training (20 hours), and
successfully pass their mock calls prior to signing up for shifts on the crisis line.
ii) Volunteers will continue to develop and maintain their skills throughout the
duration of the volunteer position by:
1) Attending monthly clinicals (1 per quarter minimum).
2) Attending professional development opportunities offered by WSN
throughout the year.

b) Scheduling & Accountability
i) Volunteers will sign up for 4 (four) shifts per month.
1) If a volunteer is unable to complete their minimum shifts due to
extenuating circumstances (e.g. vacation, illness, etc.), they must notify
Crisis Supports Coordinator or Admin and Finance Coordinator at least 48
hours in advance to ensure coverage on the Crisis Line.

ii) Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of 1 year on the Crisis Line.

c) Confidentiality
i) Volunteers agree to abide by the confidentiality clause as outlined in the WSN
Human Resources Manual. (Please submit the confidentiality form separately to
WSN staff).
ii) Due to the direct-service nature of the Crisis Line Volunteer Role, individuals are
not permitted to engage in WSN programming that may include individuals who
access the Crisis Line (e.g. the art therapy group), as this is a conflict of interest
and a potential violation of WSN’s confidentiality agreement.

Bingo:
a) Punctuality & Accountability
i) Volunteers will arrive at Bingo World Newmarket 10 (ten) minutes prior to the
start of their shift.
ii) If volunteers are unable to make their shift, they must connect with other
volunteers and WSN back-up staff to have their shift covered 24 hours prior to
the start of their shift.
1) In cases of illness, volunteers must let back-up staff know by 9AM to
ensure adequate coverage.

b) Uniform
i) Volunteers will ensure that they arrive at Bingo World Newmarket in uniform as
outlined by the Bingo Hall - Black dress pants (no denim), crested polo shirt,
name tag, and closed-toe shoes.
ii) If a volunteer’s polo shirt has not been provided at that time, please wear a clean,
plain white blouse.
c) Roles and Responsibilities
i) Volunteers will abide by the roles and responsibilities outlined by Bingo World
Newmarket.
ii) During the shift, volunteers will reference the bulletin board in the Volunteer
Office for duties to be performed and any updates to Bingo World Newmarket’s
policies.

abide by them. By accepting these policies, I acknowledge that I am subject to all policies outlined in the
