Uniting Volunteer Agreement
Thank you for taking the steps to become a volunteer with Uniting WA. We greatly value our volunteers contributions and want to ensure that you are well-informed about your role and responsibilities.
Volunteer Agreement Overview:
This agreement outlines the understanding between you (referred to as 'the volunteer' or 'you') and Uniting WA ('Uniting' or 'we'). While it is not a legally binding contract, it helps ensure clarity.
This Agreement is not intended to be a legally binding contract between parties, and it may be cancelled at any time by either Uniting or you.
What We Ask of You:
- Support Uniting's purpose and values.
- Attend relevant induction and training sessions.
- Only perform duties you are authorised to perform and operate under the direction of Uniting Employees.
- Comply with Uniting policies and procedures.
- Report safety concerns and incidents promptly.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy.
- Please promptly inform the Volunteer Manager of any changes affecting your background checks or eligibility for volunteering to maintain a safe and compliant environment. Your timely communication helps ensure our commitment to community safety.
Health and Safety:
Your safety is our top priority. Report any hazards, incidents, or injuries during your volunteer activities promptly to the designated contact for effective resolution and to maintain a safe environment.
Uniting is committed to volunteer safety and compliance with legal obligations.Please follow your role description, instructions, and abstain from substances when volunteering to avoid personal liability.
In Western Australia, the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 applies.
You have a duty to:
- Care for your own safety and that of others.
- Comply with Uniting's instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Raise safety concerns promptly.
- We provide induction, safety equipment, and training.
- Don't hesitate to discuss safety concerns with your supervisor.
Information Needed Before You Start:
- Completed application form.
- National Criminal History Check (provided by us).
- Driver's license copy (if necessary).
- Working with Children's Check (if required).
- NDIS workers screening (if needed).
Volunteer Expenses and Benefits:
We reimburse reasonable, pre-approved out-of-pocket expenses related to your volunteer tasks to ensure you are not financially disadvantaged. These payments are not remuneration or wages. You will need prior approval and will always need to produce receipts.
Insurance:
- We provide insurance cover for approved volunteer roles, including:
- Public and Products Liability
- Professional Indemnity
- Voluntary Workers
- To ensure coverage, follow these steps:
- Report incidents promptly to your supervisor.
- Complete incident report forms.
- Sign in when volunteering.
- Please note, insurance may not cover:
- Actions outside your role without permission.
- Criminal activity or charges.
- Dishonest or reckless behavior (e.g., intoxication).
Confidential Information:
Access to confidential information is granted for your role only. Do not use or disclose it for any other purpose.
Intellectual Property:
Any materials created during your voluntary service belong to Uniting WA, and you consent to their use as appropriate.
Induction and Training:
We will provide full induction, training and support for your volunteer role and ask that you complete this prior to commencing your volunteer role.
