CFUR Code of Conduct

CODE OF CONDUCT

The CFUR Radio Society expects all members to adhere to the principles, values, standards, and rules of behavior that contribute to the welfare of society and respect the rights of all constituents affected by its operations.

Territorial Acknowledgement

CFUR 88.7fm is housed at the University of Northern British Columbia. UNBC sits on the traditional, unceded territories of the L’heidli T’enneh. The history of Prince George is one of colonial terror, displacement, land theft, and cultural genocide. As we work to support arts and culture in Prince George, we must contend with this reality and recognize that for many of us, our lives, livelihoods, and creative endeavours run parallel to the ongoing, often violent, disenfranchisement of Indigenous communities.

This acknowledgement comes with responsibilities. In addition to making our facilities, equipment, and knowledge as accessible as possible for all community members, CFUR commits to amplifying Indigenous voices and creative projects, ensuring our programming is reflective of the diversity of experiences in our community, and using our platform responsibly and with respect to the land we operate on.

CFUR also acknowledges the social and personal impacts of race, gender, class, physical ability and difference, immigration status, and the many other factors that inform lived experience. We recognize and work to disrupt the ways in which these dynamics make our space and airwaves less accessible to margnizaled folks.

CFUR is and always will be a work in progress and a community-building project. In this endeavour, we commit to putting people first, particularly members of our communities who are often overlooked or actively excluded.

INTRODUCTION

This Code of Conduct articulates the values of our society. It is a guideline and reference point for communication and conduct between all society members, volunteers, staff, board members and programmers; this includes interaction with the community at large. Members and volunteers who do not adhere to the Code of Conduct will be required to participate in CFUR’s Conflict Resolution Procedure and may face disciplinary action. This Code of Conduct cannot specifically address all issues that could potentially arise, but CFUR Radio Society is committed to considering these dynamics in its efforts to allow each member to feel valued, respected and heard in the work they do withinHHH the society.1
